It is the mission of the Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions to prepare competent health professionals that self-reflect on personal values and bias to embrace the diversity and value of all humanity and become catalysts for healthcare change through the lens of social justice. We value life-long learning, collaborative engagement, invitational and interactive learning, empowerment, diversity, belonging and social justice.

The educational experience at the Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions is grounded in the belief that in order to achieve social justice in healthcare, one must start with the self. Each person must self-reflect and acknowledge how their lived experiences, biases, and prejudices impact their ability to see the plight of marginalized and underserved populations in healthcare. The school is dedicated to assisting students, staff, and faculty to self-reflect, learn, grow, and become better equipped to act through advocacy and servant leadership to create a more democratic healthcare system.
