This program is designed to lead to the State of Ohio K-12 TESOL Endorsement.

Please note: This certificate is not eligible to use Title IV financial aid at this time.

Program Overview

Educators in the Ohio K-12 TESOL Endorsement program examine historical and current theories of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages; acquire and critically engage in advanced level examination of linguistics; analyze, administer and apply English language assessments; and expand evidence-based pedagogical practices through reading, critiquing, and applying research.

This program can be completed in 2 semesters, fully online. Students typically take 6 credits per semester.

To meet program requirements for the Antioch Ohio TESOL Endorsement, students must successfully complete the required 12 credits of course work and accrue a minimum of 50 clinical hours (completed and evaluated in conjunction with specific courses). 

To qualify for the Ohio TESOL Endorsement, students must pass the Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) exam, English to Speakers of Other Languages (121). Students apply for the endorsement through the Ohio Department of Education. 

Required for Admission:

  • Current Ohio teacher license (or license in progress); (Expired Ohio Teaching License may be considered with permission of the Associate Dean of Education).
  • All prior transcripts, a resume, two letters of recommendation, and an admission essay. 
  • All applicants must have a formal interview with a program representative prior to a formal admission decision
