ATR-5301: Applied Therapeutic Interventions Lab

This hands-on laboratory course is designed to complement the concepts taught in ATR 5300: Applied Therapeutic Interventions by providing students with practical experience in applying therapeutic techniques and modalities in clinical settings. Through interactive lab sessions, students will gain proficiency in developing and implementing evidence-based, patient-centered treatment plans while integrating biomechanical principles, clinical reasoning, and cultural competence into patient care. Key areas of focus include: Hands-on application of therapeutic modalities, corrective exercises, joint mobilizations, soft tissue techniques, proprioceptive training, and task-specific functional training. Development of individualized patient care plans using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) framework to guide assessment and treatment decisions. Implementation of patient education and self-care programs designed to engage patients and their support systems in recovery and rehabilitation. Continuous assessment of patient progress through patient-reported outcomes and clinician-rated measures, with adjustments made to care plans as necessary. Use of health informatics tools, medical coding systems (ICD and CPT), and quality assurance practices to inform and enhance patient care. Safe administration of therapeutic agents under proper legal authorization. Application of biometrics and physiological monitoring systems to inform preventive measures and performance enhancement strategies. Delivery of culturally competent care by recognizing and addressing health disparities, social determinants of health, and the diverse needs of patient populations. Students will engage in skill-based lab activities, simulations, and case-based learning to refine their technical and clinical reasoning skills. By the conclusion of this course, students will be proficient in delivering comprehensive, evidence-based therapeutic interventions that align with professional athletic training standards and support optimal patient outcomes.
