CFT-5230: Applied Individual Theory in Systemic Clinical Practice

This course is designed to merge the theoretical underpinnings of individual therapies within the broader context of family dynamics and relationships. This course will guide students through the application of various psychotherapy theories and methods, addressing a myriad of client concerns while rooted in systemic theory. This course gives particular attention to teletherapy modality and includes discussions surrounding the ethics and laws relevant to this practice. The course fosters the development of therapeutic competencies for individual therapy within the family system, with a strong focus on diversity, power, privilege, and oppression. Students will enhance their skills through teletherapy role-play training, where they will practice integrating theory into practice and using feedback to improve their therapeutic approach. This course will also discuss group therapy modalities in individual treatment, discussing types of groups, stages of group development, group membership, and dynamic processes. Art Therapy Specialization Note - Students in the AT specialization will cover CAAHEP required content, including: A.2.
