COUN-7415: Global Impacts & Public Service in CounselingThis course examines the leadership roles and strategies counselor educators and practitioners employ in response to crises, disasters, and humanitarian issues affecting global communities. Students explore how sociopolitical and social justice challenges impact the counseling profession across diverse cultural and systemic contexts. Emphasis is placed on cultivating a public service mindset through the development of advocacy models and competencies at the micro (individual), meso (community/institutional), and macro (policy/systemic) levels. Students will critically analyze global impacts on mental health systems while building leadership capacity to promote equity, resilience, and transformative change in public service roles within counseling and counselor education.
