EDUC-5580: Instructional Methods: Health, Fitness and SafetyCandidates explore current issues around children’s health and safety from a variety of perspectives. Central foci include integration of health, fitness, and safety curricula into other content areas and integrating healthful practices into students’ daily lives. Teacher candidates design units of instruction that assist students in establishing healthful daily practices in and out of school. Candidates are trained on professional responsibilities concerning issues of abuse and neglect, and on the knowledge and skills needed to recognize and respond to emotional and behavioral stress in students.
