EDUC-5560: Mathematics in K-8 EducationThis course combines content and methods based on the mathematics content standards developed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the Common Core Content and Practice Standards. Teacher candidates will develop an understanding of mathematics concepts and processes through a variety of teaching methods, and faculty will model a variety of instructional techniques with the integration of multicultural ideas and literature. By the end of this course, students will be able to meaningfully engage in teaching math for understanding, with content and methods that are developmentally appropriate for students in grades K-8.
