Business and Management Studies Major and Minor Areas of Concentration
The Business and Management Studies Concentration (BMS) at AULA is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of the global economy while addressing pressing issues such as diversity, sustainability, and the role of technology. Interdisciplinary course work in the theory and practice of socially responsible business management prepares students for careers as entrepreneurs and managers of small businesses and corporations, as well as public and nonprofit organizations.
In addition to the general BMS track, students have the option to select from two emphasis options: Nonprofit Studies or Social Entrepreneurship. The coursework in both emphases highlight the potential for businesses and organizations to contribute to the work of social change. Nonprofit Studies students examine the strategies of nongovernmental organizations and nonprofits. Social Entrepreneurship students examine the individuals and organizations that foster entrepreneurial change, including innovative business practices that affect positive social outcomes.
Students must complete a minimum of 40 units for a Major Area of Concentration, and a minimum of 20 units for a Minor Area of Concentration. The faculty recommends that at least one half of the units counted toward the concentration be upper division.
Pathway to Graduate Management Programs
The Pathway (also known as Fast Track) offers qualified Business and Management Studies students the opportunity to save time and tuition costs while progressing from undergraduate to graduate studies in any of three Antioch graduate management programs. The three available options are: the Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management (MANM), and the Master of Human Services Administration (MHSA). Pathway students can take up to 9 semester units/13.5 quarter units of courses that count towards graduation requirements for both their bachelor’s degree and their master’s degree.
