Queer Studies: Minor Area of Concentration

Queer Studies is an interdisciplinary field that emerged from feminist, LGBT+, and HIV/AIDS activism, in combination with postmodern thought and practice. Consequently, the Queer Studies Minor Concentration combines interdisciplinary academic study with opportunities for community, social, and political engagement and activism. Academically, Queer Studies focuses on a wide range of issues related to the lives of  Queer, Non-Binary, and LGBT+ identified persons, situating them within larger historical and cultural contexts concerned with the social production and political regulation of bodies, identities, sex, sexuality, and gender. Queer Studies fosters resistance, resilience, analysis, and creative engagement in the ongoing work of social justice for Gender-Sexual-Minorities and the world at large.
