EDC-6820: Building Inclusive Learning Communities

This course explores face-to-face and online community building tools and strategies and the facilitation of learning experiences that support and engage all learners in the content being taught. We will investigate the use of supporting technology for use in the classroom and as a supplemental learning tool. Topics include establishing “Rightful Presence” for all students in the classroom creating a safe place for them to engage in learning through their unique and individual lenses of life experience. We will also learn more about ensuring that students, no matter their varied abilities, are supported to learn and be viable members of the learning community through evidence based practices including Universal Design for Learning and Choice Theory.
