WRTG-3012: Crafting Short Fiction

The purpose of this course is to develop an appreciation of masterful short stories and help students become better aware of their creative process. Students will gain an understanding of elements of fiction and effective technique, and to establish a sense of audience and voice. This course will include the discussion of form and technique, readings, and a variety of writing exercises as well as the sharing of student stories. Students will be expected to read and critique each other’s work, and to produce a writer’s journal and two stories that they will revise.
